BitcoinSoV

BSoV: The first mine-able, deflationary, open sourced, decentralized cryptocurrency Hedge to act as a Store of Value against the monetary inflation of fiat currency. BSoV is mined using a simple Keccak256 (Sha3) algorithm. There is No ICO, No Pre-mine, and No Governance. This allows for BSoV to be completely decentralized and fairly distributed. With each transfer of BSoV tokens, 1% of the total transaction is burned forever.

Terracoin

Terracoin (TRC) is a person to person digital currency. It shares many similarities to Bitcoin in that it utilizes the SHA 256 algorithm and relies on the concepts outlined in Satoshi's white paper. Terracoin originated in late 2012 after a series of difficulties arose in other digital currencies. There will only be 42 million Terracoin produced. To learn about using and/or mining Terracoin visit the bitcointalk forum or the Terracoin website, Terracoin.io.

If SHA256 became unsecure, how would Bitcoin move to a different hashing algorithm?

From what I understand SHA256 is an incredibly secure algorithm that underpins much of the Internet's security, not just Bitcoin. However, surely with ever increasing computing power there will come a time when it is possible to break / find a flaw in / crack? When this happens, how would Bitcoin move to a different and more secure algorithm?
Thanks for any help and I'm sorry if I don't understand properly.
Edit: I'm well aware that in the eventuality SHA256 breaks down:
  1. We're likely a very long time away
  2. A lot of things would go to shit, not just Bitcoin
It was more just asking how, theoretically, a decentralised system such as Bitcoin would agree on and adopt a new system.

Are sidechains another form of centralization?

There's been a lot of talk about sidechains, which are all based off of bitcoin. I like the idea in general, but am worried about the centralization of all new currencies/smart-contracts/whathaveyou around the bitcoin blockchain.
Obviously bitcoin has the largest network and the most liquidity, but having altcoins with a totally separate blockchain is a great way to keep your eggs in different baskets. If everything will be based on bitcoin, it does create another central point of failure.
Hypothetical example: if a flaw if found with the sha256 algorithm, bitcoin would pretty much collapse alongside all the sidechains, but litecoin/dogecoin would still be around. Yes, it's highly unlikely, but no one expected the entire internet to become unsecure, either. Other flaws could be found that could destroy it, while alternative currencies that use different code, like NXT, wouldn't be affected.
As you can see, I'm a huge fan of decentralization, even when it comes to decentralizing the decentralized networks. As of now, I'm of the opinion that sidechains are obviously very useful, but they won't (or shouldn't) completely replace all altcoins altogether. I'd rather not keep all eggs in one basket.

Given NSA's hacking abilities, can the SHA256 algorithm behind Bitcoin still considered secure?

Hashing algorithms like this are perfectly secure until someone figures out a way to reverse the hash process. Other algorithms previously thought to be secure have been broken and are no longer used for high security stuff (MD5 comes to mind).
The implication is that it's only a matter of time before SHA256 is cracked.
I've seen more than a few articles talking about NSA's ability to sift through the blockchain to follow transactions, blah blah blah. That's been possible for a while now, NSA are just exceedingly good at it - hardly a revelation.
My question is about the algorithm itself. Given what we know about the NSA's capabilities (and the assumptions we can make about that which has not yet been admitted to), how confident are we that they haven't cracked SHA256?
The government would love to have the ability to seize your BTC just like they can with regular bank accounts. Any thoughts on the NSA's ability to just drain your wallet?
